Gardeners and farmers do a lot of work. They spend countless hours, early mornings, late nights, and most of their time tending to their fields and working hard to ensure that they yield a good crop. Whether it is a vegetable garden, a plot of flowers, or an entire field of crops, the amount of blood, sweat, and tears that is poured over their efforts is extraordinary.

But what about everything else?

Sure the gardener could plant everything by hand, but a shovel helps a lot.

While the farmer could pick each stalk of corn with their fingers, a tractor cuts the process down exponentially.

I feel like I have talked a lot about me.

How hard I have worked, how much time I have spent, how long I have planned, etc.

What I have not mentioned is that this book is not just my own personal labor.

While I did write the book and come up with the premise, this book would not be possible without the people in my life who have brought their skills and talents to my garden.

Believe me when I say that I will take the time to acknowledge my team. But not is this post.

This post is to talk about what took me so long to get my book published.

The answer to that is simple: I had lots of excuses.

I don't really read a lot, so I probably wouldn't do a great job.

I can't design, so I couldn't do a book cover.

I have never been the best grammar student, so my book would be a joke.

If a gardener thought that they couldn't have equipment or people to help them, they might not have planted in the first place.

If a farmer gave up on their dreams of harvesting all because they didn't want to ask for help, there would not be any food on our tables.

The point of this is that we do not have to do anything on our own. And thank God, right?

I mean, I am proud of my writing, but if I didn't reach out to a friend for editing, there would be more than a few typos. Seriously, she is the best and so patient.

If I hadn't enlisted my friend for cover design, my book would likely look like any plain book. Hint: my book is going to be GORGEOUS and it will forever live on my coffee table.

If I hadn't asked my childhood friend to write a foreword, you would not have her amazing message and metaphors to read. Hint: I cry each and every time that I read it.

What is something that you have told yourself that you could not do because you didn't have all of the skills?

What is something that you have put off out of fear of failure?

Are you also afraid of asking for help?

I can assure you that reaching out to people who are experts and leaning on them for their talents will only make the product better.

I seriously cannot wait for you to get your hands on my book, The Garden, which will be on Amazon next month!
